English League Championship news 12BET update 12/12

Goalkeeper David Marshall praises Cardiff City defence

Goalkeeper David Marshall is delighted with Cardiff's defence after Saturday's 0-0 draw at Millwall saw them record a fourth straight clean sheet.

The result means the Bluebirds remain third in the Championship, ahead on goal difference from Middlesbrough who they host next Saturday.

"It's always good to get clean sheets... it just gives you confidence," said Marshall.

"The back four in front of me have been solid and long may it continue."

James Henry did hit the crossbar for Millwall but Cardiff extended their unbeaten run to 11 games.

The good results have continued to flow despite changes in match-day personnel, with Malky Mackay's squad proving their worth.

Unbeaten run pleases Cardiff boss
"Whoever comes in and goes out with injuries and suspensions the boys who come in just seem to do their jobs, even in the cup games," Marshall said.

"It's not easy for the boys who are on the bench and not in the squad at times... like Lee Naylor especially, who came in last week and did a great job at Birmingham and got the clean sheet.

"We're level on points with Middlesbrough so it's a massive game next week.

"Obviously we're looking above us [at top two Southampton and West Ham United] but Middlesbrough are sniffing about as well.

"Towards the end of last season it was a disappointing result we had against them, so we'll be looking to put that right." - http://news.bbc.co.uk
