Bayern Munich Beats Real Madrid in a Penalty Shoot

From first league, Real trailed by a goal then Cristiano Ronaldo strikes -- the first, a penalty and next is a neat low finish which put them in control.

With a spot kick done by Arjen Robben, he leveled the tie for Bayern. No further goals meant a shoot-out, which Bastian Schweinsteiger settled to send his team to the final goal.

While Mario Gomez and David Alaba scored for Bayern, the goalkeeper Manuel Neuer played a major part saving real's first two penalties, from Kaka and Ronaldo.

This was the second time in major Champions League shoot-outs ronaldo had missed from the spot. If you remember he also failed for Manchester United in the 2008 final against Chelsea.

So let's follow the game of Real Madrid and see if they will beats Sevilla FC.

Dickov gets behind Westley

Graham Westley will go on to be a success at Preston according to Oldham boss Paul Dickov.

Graham-Westley-006.jpg (460×276)

North End played out a 1-1 draw with Latics at Boundary Park on Saturday afternoon, as Chris Holroyd's first goal for the visitors cancelled out Robbie Simpson's opener. Westley has endured a turbulent time since replacing Phil Brownin the Deepdale hotseat in January, and Dickov feels he has come in for undue criticism.

"Graham is somebody I've got a lot of time for. He takes a lot of stick, but when you look at his record at Stevenage it's fantastic if you go back to where he took them from.

"I've no doubt that, given time in the summer, once he gets his own players in and his own stamp on the football club he will be a success there. Preston have got a hell of a lot of pros and you can only pick 11 players.

"There's always a case at a football club that when people aren't playing football they're going to look to blame everybody else. I've seen it as a player, it was my pet hate as a player - a blame culture - and I've seen it as a manager. He's a strong character and he'll sort it out."

Holroyd denies Latics the win

Oldham were denied their first win in seven games on Saturday as Preston hit back to earn a 1-1 draw at Boundary Park.

tt_image_609568.jpg (330×248)

Robbie Simpson's ninth goal of the season looked set to give the Latics maximum points in a dour contest, but Chris Holroyd pegged them back 11 minutes from time.

Oldham wasted a good early chance when Simpson blazed wide from Youssouf M'Changama's pass. Oumare Tounkara also missed the target from close range before Preston went close twice within a minute, Holroyd forcing a save from Dean Bouzanis and Craig Morgan heading over from eight yards

Oldham captain Dean Furman saw his goalbound shot blocked, but Simpson again failed to test visiting goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann when well placed in the box.

However, Simpson broke through after 69 minutes, glancing in a six-yard header from a left-wing free-kick by Filipe Morais.
Preston levelled 10 minutes later as Danny Mayor chipped in a neat cross from the left and Holroyd had the simple task of nodding home from two yards out.

Sub strikes late for Stevenage

Substitute John Mousinho's late strike gave Stevenage a vital 1-0 victory at home to League One play-off rivals Carlisle on Tuesday night.

John-Mousinho-Stevenage_2596346.jpg (330×248)

Mousinho, whose goal won promotion for Boro last season, had been on the pitch for only three minutes before netting to move the hosts within one point of sixth-placed Notts County.
Craig Reid wasted an early chance for Stevenage when he could only scoop the ball over the bar from 10 yards after Mark Roberts' deep cross.

The hosts dominated the opening half-hour and Carlisle goalkeeper Adam Collin did superbly to tip away Jamaal Lascelles' point-blank header from Scott Laird's corner.

The Cumbrians then came extremely close after the break when Danny Livesey's downward header from Andy Welsh's corner was just about kept out by the legs of Stevenage stopper Chris Day.
But Stevenage forced the winner with 14 minutes left when Stacy Long's cross-field pass picked out Mousinho and he took a touch before finishing brilliantly via the underside of the bar.

Lindfield heaps praise on youth

Craig Lindfield felt the 4-1 scoreline was harsh on Accrington as they fell to a heavy defeat at play-off chasing Cheltenham.

C_71_article_1454032_image_list_image_list_item_0_image.jpg (620×372)

Stanley's striker-turned-right-back praised the performances of some of the club's younger players, who are playing for their futures. "I don't think it was ever a 4-1 game," Lindfield said. "The gaffer has made five or six changes and it's hard to gel quickly. The lads are all trying to impress and they were nervous, trying to win a contract. "They have done well and the scoreline doesn't reflect the game overall. They are all learning, young lads, on loan and Cheltenham are a good team. They are big, strong and physical but we played some good football in patches. The third goal was a big blow. "There is good character in the dressing room and we didn't give up, creating some good chances, but it's a heavy defeat."

Freedman hopes to keep hold of defender

Nathaniel-Clyne_2629655.jpg (660×350)

Crystal Palace have offered Nathaniel Clyne an improved contract to stay at Selhurst Park.

Clyne has been strongly linked with a move away from Palace this summer when his contract expires.

Manchester United have been credited with an interest in the full-back, while a number of other clubs are also thought to be keeping tabs on Clyne's situation.

Eagles boss Dougie Freedman has confirmed the club have made him an improved offer as they look to keep hold of him.

"We've offered him a new contract, an improved one," Clyne told the South London Press.

"We're still trying to keep in line with the current wage structure and we're just waiting for Nathaniel to come back to us.

"I think he's progressing and should stay a little longer, he is getting better. He needs to be careful he doesn't jump ship too early but that is his choice."

Boss hails Royals discipline

Promotion-chasers have not received a red card all season

Brian McDermott has hailed Reading's discipline as his side push for promotion to the Premier League.

The Royals ground out a hard-fought 2-0 win over ten-man Leeds last time out, which saw Whites defender Zac Thompson sent-off for a lunge on Jobi McAnuff before the visitors could then have easily been reduced to nine men but Danny Pugh's challenge on Jem Karacan went unpunished.Substitute Adam Le Fondre's late double sealed the points for the hosts and McDermott is pleased with the attitude of his promotion-chasers, with the club having not received a red card all season. He told Sky Sports News: "We've got disciplined players. It's not about what I do - these guys are tough guys, they can look after themselves and they do the right things.

"I thought our discipline was excellent against Leeds and it has been all season."But that discipline is from within, they want to win games and they are putting themselves on the line all the time."But it's their discipline, it's what they do and they are the ones who deserve the credit for that."Asked if you could teach players discipline, he replied: "You can teach it when they're young guys, when you're young boys you can teach discipline and you can put that within them."You know we can talk about discipline - last season we got fined for an incident at Cardiff which we felt a little bit wronged by but we've moved on from that and our discipline this season has been a real credit."

Blackpool Vs Barnsley football liga match preview

Blackpool are likely to be without Gary Taylor-Fletcher for the game. Taylor-Fletcher was taken off on a stretcher after suffering a head injury during the second half of Friday's 2-0 victory at Watford. Top-scorer Kevin Phillips missed out due to hip and ankle problems at Vicarage Road, and with Roman Bednar (knee) sidelined, Lomano LuaLua is favourite to partner Stephen Dobbie in attack.

Barnsley, meanwhile, could recall David Perkins to their starting line-up. Perkins has been sidelined with a knee injury, but was a second-half substitute in Friday's heavy home defeat to West Ham and Keith Hill could be tempted to make several changes. Midfielders Jim O'Brien and Michael Tonge, plus defender Lee Collins are also pushing for returns to the side as the Tykes chase only their second win in their last 11 league matches.
