Boss hails Royals discipline

Promotion-chasers have not received a red card all season

Brian McDermott has hailed Reading's discipline as his side push for promotion to the Premier League.

The Royals ground out a hard-fought 2-0 win over ten-man Leeds last time out, which saw Whites defender Zac Thompson sent-off for a lunge on Jobi McAnuff before the visitors could then have easily been reduced to nine men but Danny Pugh's challenge on Jem Karacan went unpunished.Substitute Adam Le Fondre's late double sealed the points for the hosts and McDermott is pleased with the attitude of his promotion-chasers, with the club having not received a red card all season. He told Sky Sports News: "We've got disciplined players. It's not about what I do - these guys are tough guys, they can look after themselves and they do the right things.

"I thought our discipline was excellent against Leeds and it has been all season."But that discipline is from within, they want to win games and they are putting themselves on the line all the time."But it's their discipline, it's what they do and they are the ones who deserve the credit for that."Asked if you could teach players discipline, he replied: "You can teach it when they're young guys, when you're young boys you can teach discipline and you can put that within them."You know we can talk about discipline - last season we got fined for an incident at Cardiff which we felt a little bit wronged by but we've moved on from that and our discipline this season has been a real credit."
