Potter puts U's in top seven

Alfie Potter's second-half strike ensured Oxford moved back into the League Two play-off places courtesy of a 1-1 draw at Burton.

Midfielder Adam Bolder gave Albion a first-half lead but Potter hit back with a solo goal after the break to leave the Brewers still looking for their first win of 2012.

The hosts dominated much of the first half and might have been more than a goal to the good. Skipper John McGrath had a shot blocked by the legs of goalkeeper Ryan Clarke before the Brewers went in front in the 13th minute.

Andres Gurrieri opened up the visitors' defence and Bolder provided an accomplished finish from 15 yards. All Oxford could offer in response were wayward efforts from Peter Leven and Simon Heslop.

But the U's showed more energy and purpose in the second half and drew level when Potter brilliantly jinked his way through a packed penalty area to score from close range.

James Constable then went close to giving the visitors the lead with a raking low shot from 15 yards. - http://www.skysports.com/
