David Luiz has committed his future to Chelsea FC by signing a new five-year deal with the UEFA Champions League holders.
The Blues announced news of the Brazilian international defender's renewed terms shortly after Saturday's 1-0 win against Stoke City FC. "I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea," said Luiz, who joined from SL Benfica in January 2011. "It is a great club and I look forward to winning more trophies here. I love everything about the club and especially the fans, who have made me very welcome and given me great support."
Luiz, 25, won the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea last season, playing every minute of their final triumph over FC Bayern München. Roberto Di Matteo's side continue their defence at FC Nordsjælland on 2 October, having opened with a 2-2 draw against Juventus on Wednesday.
