Sports Bet News: Man Utd’s Champions League Trek to Unknown Cluj Will Be a Success, Says Wayne Rooney

THE LATEST SPORTS BET UPDATE – Striker Wayne Rooney said that Manchester United would not repeat their horrible Champions League last year as they continue their hunt to become a winning European club against relatively unknown CFR Cluj on Tuesday.

United played past through rival outfit Galatasaray 1-0 in their last Champions League group match this season. This time, the top English squad will travel to the city of Cluj-Napoca in Romania to face the champions of the Liga I.

Among those who will travel with Rooney are Robin van Persie, Shinji Kagawa, Rio Ferdinand and Anderson, among others. They will be without the presence of Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.

Both United and Cluj won their opening group stage berths in this season’s Champions League. The English side hopes to get past through the group stage to qualify for a much stronger showing than last year.

Rooney remarked that the Champions League is not a similar case with the Premier League, recognizing that there is stiffer competition between clubs vying to become the best in Europe. He added that they have to be in their best form to prevent crashing out of the competition like last season.

After spending time in the sidelines due to a large thigh wound sustained earlier in the league this season, Rooney came back to play as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday. His impressive assist to Nani’s goal reflected that he has finally regained his top form.

Excited for his return to the Champions League, Rooney acknowledges the challenges that they have to face ahead. Nevertheless, he considers the competition as one which he “love[s] playing in”.

Meanwhile, United welcomes the return of Jonny Evans after spending time in the sidelines for an injured ankle. There is no news yet as to whether the defender will be available to play, especially in light of Ferdinand’s backline inefficiency concerns as seen against the Spurs.
